BMW Beat Mercedes Benz To Become The Best-Selling Luxury Brand In January

In January 2024, BMW beat Mercedes Benz to claim the title of the best-selling luxury brand. The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) recently revealed the vehicle registration figures for the previous month. As per the report, BMW secured the top spot by selling 1340 units, edging out Mercedes Benz, which sold 1333 units. Despite the narrow margin between the two brands, the competition has been fierce. While Mercedes Benz held the lead in overall sales, BMW snatched the lead in the electric vehicle segment last year.

BMW sold 932 units in the same month last year, which is an increase of 408 units. The German manufacturer has been posting really good growth thanks to the introduction of newer models especially the updated 7 Series and X7 in the premium segment. The new-generation model of X1 was introduced last year and it has contributed significantly to the growth along with the iX1. BMW is planning to launch the new generation of 5 Series later this year and for the first time, we will be getting the long-wheelbase version.

Mercedes Benz on the other hand experienced marginal growth compared to the same month last year as the company sold just 11 more units and they are also planning to launch lots of new models in India this year. Last month, Mercedes launched the updated GLA and AMG GLE Coupe. JLR has managed to get the third spot in January with 273 units. Volvo sold 220 units in January 2024 compared to 194 units in the same month last year. The overall sales of Audi have come down as the company sold just 67 units compared to 184 units in the same month last year.
