The Indian automobile market is one of the price-sensitive markets in the world and even if the product is really good, the right pricing is key for success. The segment under 10 lakh is fiercely competitive and there are lots of manufacturers that are eying a piece of it. In this article, we take a look at the top 4 upcoming cars under 10 lakh as these include hatchbacks, compact SUVs and Sedans, which makes this price segment unique as customers can choose the model depending on their requirements.
1. Kia Sonet Facelift
Kia introduced the Sonet three years ago and now the Korean manufacturer is planning to introduce an update for the model. The India debut of the Sonet facelift is expected to take next month. Like its bigger cousin Seltos, we can expect the Sonet facelift to feature minor exterior changes like a revised grille, headlamps and bumper while the interior is also expected to get a new touchscreen infotainment system along with a revised design for the dashboard. One of the big new features expected on the new Sonet is ADAS. The engine lineup for the new Sonet is likely to be carried over from the current model and the official launch is expected to take place in January.
2. Maruti Suzuki Swift
The Swift is one of the most popular hatchbacks in the country and now the company is gearing up to introduce the fourth generation model. The company had already given a preview of the concept model and the model was spotted testing in India too. The design theme of the upcoming Swift is similar to the current model as Suzuki adopted an evolutionary theme instead of going radical. Some of the design changes include an updated grille, headlamps, tail lamps and bumper.
The interior is expected to be different from the current model with better quality materials. The Swift is facing stiff competition from rivals and we can expect Suzuki to spice up the cabin with more tech. Some of the features expected on the new model are a better touchscreen infotainment system, blind spot monitoring, 360-degree camera and more. Maybe in future, we can expect ADAS too. Another big addition is going to be the introduction of the new Z-series 1.2 L petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options. The launch is expected to take place next year.
3. Maruti Suzuki Dzire
Maruti Suzuki Dzire is a compact sedan based on the Swift hatchback. Like the fourth-generation hatchback, Maruti Suzuki is also working on the next generation of the Dzire and it is expected to be introduced in the Indian market in the second half of 2024. The design theme is likely to be similar to what we have seen on the new Swift and the interior too. The feature list is again another area Maruti Suzuki will be focusing on as the compact sedan could come with ADAS, 360-degree camera and more. The engine will be another big change as it will come with a new Z-series 1.2 L petrol engine.
4. Tata Punch EV
Indian electric vehicle segment is dominated by Tata Motors as they have different models at various price points. The next big electric vehicle launch from Tata Motors is going to be Punch EV as the test mule has been spotted across the country. The exterior design theme of the EV is similar to the ICE version except for minor tweaks on the grille and EV badging across the body. The interior is also going to get minimal change as it will increase the overall cost of the development. The Punch EV could share the same battery pack as the Tiago EV and the launch is expected to take place soon.
