This Sedan Took 28 Months To Reach 50,000 Milestone

Volkswagen India has reached a significant milestone, announcing the sale of 50,000 units of its Virtus sedan. This achievement comes 28 months after the car’s initial launch, marking steady demand for the model in the Indian market. The company also revealed that over 17,000 units have been sold in the current year alone, further demonstrating Virtus’ growing popularity. The Virtus is built on the MQB A0 IN platform, a modular structure specifically tailored for India.

This platform is part of Volkswagen’s larger India 2.0 initiative, which focuses on creating vehicles that suit the unique preferences and requirements of Indian consumers. Alongside the Virtus, this lineup includes the Skoda Slavia sedan and two SUVs, the Kushaq and Taigun. These models have contributed significantly to Volkswagen’s overall sales in India, making up approximately 18.5% of the company’s domestic sales volumes within just over three years of their introduction.

The Virtus offers two engine choices: a 1.0-litre and a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Both engines can be paired with either a manual or automatic gearbox, catering to a wide range of driving preferences. The 1.0-litre engine delivers an excellent balance of performance and efficiency, making it ideal for everyday use, while the more powerful 1.5-litre engine provides a more dynamic driving experience. This flexibility has helped Virtus appeal to a broad spectrum of buyers, from those seeking a reliable city commuter to customers who prefer a more performance-oriented vehicle.
