Tata Motors has officially begun accepting bookings for its highly anticipated Altroz Racer, ahead of its expected launch next week. The Altroz Racer is a sportier iteration of the Altroz hatchback, featuring unique exterior finishes, a matching interior, additional equipment, and a more powerful engine. The leaked brochure reveals comprehensive details about this warm-hatch, including three variants: R1, R2, and R3. Even the base R1 variant is better equipped than the top-spec XZ+ trim of the standard Altroz, adding features such as four additional airbags, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a sportier exhaust. However, it retains a 4-inch semi-analogue instrument cluster and lacks a sunroof.
To access premium features like a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, powered sunroof, wireless charging, 360-degree camera, and blind spot monitor, buyers will need to opt for the Altroz Racer R2. The top-tier R3 variant further enhances the offering with Tata’s connected car technology, ventilated front seats, and an air purifier. Notably, the Altroz Racer introduces segment-first features such as cooled seats and a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring. Under the hood, the Altroz Racer is powered by the Nexon’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, delivering 120hp and 170Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard, complemented by a sportier-sounding exhaust to match its dynamic aspirations.
The spy shots have shown that the Altroz Racer will feature a dual-tone finish similar to the model displayed at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo but with standard 16-inch alloy wheels. Three paint options will be available: Atomic Orange, Avenue White, and Pure Grey, each with a contrasting black bonnet and roof, and white racing stripes on the bonnet. The interior will reflect the exterior with matching highlights around the AC vents, centre console, gearbox, and seat upholstery. Tata Motors offers a 3-year/1 lakh km warranty as standard with the Altroz Racer. Pricing is expected to be significantly higher than the standard Altroz iTurbo, which ranges from Rs 9.20 lakh to Rs 10.10 lakh ex-showroom in India.
