The Tokyo Motor Show 2023 has witnessed the official unveiling of the next-generation Suzuki Swift, marking the debut of the all-new fourth-generation model. Although Suzuki continues to label it a “concept,” the vehicle’s appearance suggests it is ready for production. Indian car enthusiasts will soon be treated to this innovative offering, as the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is slated for launch in the Indian market next year. One of the first things that caught the eye about the new Swift is its fresh and updated design, both inside and out.
While the overall styling retains the unmistakable Swift DNA, a closer inspection reveals numerous new design elements. The front end features a flatter nose with sharp headlamps, complete with LED daytime running lamps and a projector setup, showcasing a production-ready design. The grille has undergone a makeover, now larger and rounded on the edges, adorned with a gloss black and dark chrome finish, with the Suzuki logo positioned just under the bonnet. The front bumper showcases new cuts and creases, exuding a sportier aesthetic.
The Tokyo showcase model also boasts Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), although it remains uncertain whether these features will be included in the Indian version. As of now, Maruti does not offer ADAS on any of its models in the Indian market. The side profile of the new Swift introduces a prominent character line that seamlessly integrates with the headlamps. The roofline and glass house retains the familiar Swift design, but the doors, particularly the rear door, feature a revised handle placement.
Moving to the rear, the updated styling includes angular design cues, a redesigned bumper, and a refreshed tailgate. Notably, the badging on the back suggests “Hybrid,” but it has been confirmed that India will maintain the pure petrol powertrain for the new Swift. Inside the cabin, the Swift maintains a familiar feel, sharing various interior elements with the Baleno and the Fronx. This includes a free-standing infotainment system, steering wheel design, and HVAC switches. With its modern design and anticipated features, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is poised to be a game-changer in the Indian automotive market, offering a compelling option for those seeking a stylish and technologically advanced vehicle.
