Next-Generation Skoda Rapid Spotted In India Might Get A New Name

Skoda Rapid along with its sibling Volkswagen Vento are the only models, which is yet to get a generation change but all this will change next year with the introduction of an updated model. The next-generation Rapid has been spotted in India for the first time and the test-mule is heavily camouflaged without revealing many design details but it will come with the same styling as other new-generation Skoda products and the new Rapid is already on sale in global markets.

The front gets signature grille of Skoda along with new sharp-looking LED headlamps along with a new bumper and fog lamps are also expected to be LEDs. The wheel size is likely to be 17-inch as introducing a bigger wheel will make an impact on ride quality. The rear gets LED tail lamps and a new bumper. The Rapid will retain the proper sedan design theme and the European design theme is likely to be popular among customers.

The interior will be a big departure from the current generation model and the dashboard gets a new design. The quality of the interior is expected to be a step up with lots of features like an 8 or 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, wireless charging, USB charging ports, 360-degree camera with parking sensors, sunroof, leather seats and more. But the Rapid might misses out on remote engine start and AC won’t be part of the package.

Skoda is going to increase the length by 67 mm and the wheelbase will be 2651 mm, which makes the Rapid longest wheelbase in the segment. The interior space will be much more than the current model with extra legroom and headroom and boot volume is likely to be around 520 litres. The engine options on Rapid is expected to be 1.0 L TSI with 115 PS and 150 PS for the 1.5 L TSI mated to 6-speed manual, torque-converter and 7-speed DSG. The launch will take place next year.
