Nissan officially showcased the fourth generation of the X-Trail last year in the Indian market as the Japanese manufacturer is gearing up to introduce products from its International portfolio as CBU products. The new X-Trail was spotted in Chennai near the Nissan plant and the model was completely undisguised as they are probably testing the vehicle ahead of its launch. Globally the X-trail is one of the most popular models of the Japanese manufacturer and they offered it in India earlier but sales have been not great.
The X-Trail is based on the CMF-C platform and the new models follows the global design theme of Nissan as the front gets the signature V-motion grille of Nissan. The headlamps are split set up in which LED DRLs are placed on top and the main headlamps units are placed below it. The mirrors are placed on the door instead of the A-pillar as it reduces drag compared to the conventional position. Nissan has given front and rear skid plates while the black plastic cladding running across the body further enhances the SUV look.
The interior is modern as the dashboard is dominated by a 12.3-inch infotainment system and instrument cluster, which can be customised and loaded with information for the driver. The head-up display is a 10.8-inch unit and the Japanese manufacturer offers lots of features in the X-Trail like ADAS and more. The X-Trail comes with two engine options – a 2.4 L Naturally Aspirated Petrol engine and a 1.5 L three-cylinder petrol engine with Self-Charging hybrid system, which is one of the big USP of the X-Trail and the launch is expected to take place next year.
