MG Sold 627 Units Of Gloster In November 2020

The competition in the full-size SUV segment is heating up thanks to the introduction of MG Gloster. Like the previous launches of MG, the British manufacturer owned by Chinese company SAIC has made an impact in the SUV segment. The Fortuner and Endeavour have been leading the segment for a very long time as no other models have been able to come close but the November 2020 sales revealed a completely new picture.

In November 2020 both Fortuner and Endeavour are in the first and second position but both of them registered negative sales growth as MG sold 627 units of Gloster in the first month, which is impressive considering the price and competition. Toyota sold 656 units of Fortuner last month and registered 38 per cent negative Year-On-Year growth and 55 per cent negative Month-On-Month growth, which is really high even though an updated version of Fortuner is coming soon.

Ford has managed to sell 647 units of Endeavour in November 2020 but the company sold 724 units in the same month last year and registered 11 per cent Year-On-Year negative growth. When compared to October 2020 the sales growth of Endeavour is again negative as it stands at -24 per cent. Even though Gloster sales are a bit behind compared to the established rivals, its a good start for MG and we can expect this momentum to hold on in coming months.

MG launched the Gloster in October but the deliveries started last month and the SUV is available in four variants – Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. The Gloster is powered by 2.0 L twin-turbo diesel engine with 218 PS and 480 Nm. This engine is mated to 8-speed automatic gearbox and comes with four-wheel drive system as standard. The SUV comes with six driving modes – Snow, Mud, Sand, Eco, Normal, and Rock.
