Mercedes AMG C63 S E Performance Launched In India At Rs. 1.95 Crore

Mercedes-Benz has introduced a powerful new player to India’s luxury performance car segment with the launch of the AMG C63 S E Performance. This high-performance sedan, priced at Rs 1.95 crore (ex-showroom), represents a new direction for AMG’s lineup by blending traditional power with advanced hybrid technology. Deliveries are expected to start in the second quarter of 2025, with bookings now open. Unlike its predecessors, the new AMG C63 S E Performance transitions from the 4.0-litre V8 engine to a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, paired with an electric motor.

The turbocharged unit alone generates an impressive 469 BHP and 545 Nm of torque. Complementing it is the rear-mounted electric motor, contributing an additional 201 BHP and 320 Nm. The combined system output reaches a jaw-dropping 671 BHP and 1,020 Nm, positioning it as one of the most formidable hybrids in its category. Power is managed through a 9-speed automatic transmission, which channels output to all four wheels via the 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive setup. Performance enthusiasts will also appreciate the inclusion of a Drift Mode, enhancing rear-wheel-drive dynamics for a more thrilling driving experience.

Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is achieved in a swift 3.4 seconds, with a top speed capped at 280 km/h. As a plug-in hybrid, the C63 S E Performance houses a 6.1 kWh battery, offering a modest electric-only range of 13 km. Engineering enhancements extend to a Formula 1-inspired electrically assisted turbocharger, as well as four-wheel steering. Drivers can choose among eight distinct driving modes, including Electric, Comfort, Battery Hold, Sport, Sport+, Race, Slippery, and Individual. For ride quality adjustments, there are three damping settings: Comfort, Sport, and Sport+.

Aesthetically, the new AMG C63 exudes a commanding presence. It features a wider and longer body compared to the regular C-Class, highlighted by an assertive Panamericana grille, aggressive bumpers, and striking 20-inch wheels. The cabin maintains the luxury and tech features of the standard C-Class but incorporates distinctive AMG elements such as a 3-spoke steering wheel, optional AMG Performance seats, and sporty trim details. The vehicle’s tech-rich interior includes a 12.3-inch infotainment display, a head-up display, Burmester audio system, 360-degree camera, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), offering a blend of performance and luxury befitting the AMG badge.
