Maruti Suzuki To Update Ertiga And XL6 With More Features

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6 are two of the best selling petrol MPV models in the country. Soon both of them will have to fight against a new rival from Hyundai which is the Alcazar and it will be loaded with lots of features like always to take on the competition. According to a new media report, Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce an update for both the MPV model and the change will be focusing on features rather than aesthetics.

The design of both models is likely to remain the same but the tyres will finally get an upgrade, which was much needed as the current set of wheels look small and the alloy wheels will also get a new design. We are also expecting Maruti to introduce some new colour options with dual-tone available on top-end variants as it is one of the most popular options among buyers. Maruti recently introduced the dual-tone option on the Swift.

Apart from this, the Ertiga and XL6 also get a wireless charger, which is available in most of the competitors and Maruti is yet to offer it on any of the models. Even though an additional charging option is good, we would certainly like Maruti to offer more USB ports on both models as they currently offer only one USP but a couple of 12V sockets are available. Maruti is also expected to offer 6 or 4 airbags on the top-end model rather than two.

These changes are certainly targeted to improve sales as Maruti usually don’t offer such feature upgrades. But the company won’t make any update for mechanicals as the Ertiga and XL6 will be powered by the same 1.5 L petrol engine with smart-hybrid set up producing 105 PS and 138 Nm mated to 5-speed manual and 4-speed auto. Some reports have indicated that Maruti might re-introduce diesel engine also.
