The buzz around Jimny is rising by each day as the company is gearing up to announce the price on June 7th. The bookings of the Jimny commenced at the Auto Expo and reports indicate that the bookings crossed 35,000. Now the company has officially confirmed that the bookings are equally split between the manual and automatic variants. We were thoroughly impressed with the automatic gearbox during off-roading and also on-road.
Maruti has already commenced series production of Jimny 5 door in India and the first 1000 units have been already built as they are ready to be dispatched to the dealerships across the country. The Jimny will be sold via Nexa dealerships and it comes in two variants – Alpha and Zeta. The engine powering the off-roader is the 1.5 L K15B Series unit which produces 105 PS and 134 Nm of torque. The gearbox options include 5-speed manual and 4-speed auto.
