Kia is planning to expand the Sonet lineup with the introduction of the CNG variant. The Sonet CNG prototype has been spotted testing in Mumbai and it could be ARAI testing as part of the emissions. The variant spotted is the top-of-the-line X-line which suggests that the Sonet CNG could be powered by the 1.0 L turbo-petrol engine and it is likely to be offered with manual or IMT gearbox instead of the DCT to keep the price down.

The Korean manufacturer is actively testing CNG variants of other models as they want to expand the lineup. Even though EVs are the future, CNG is a good alternative. Tata Motors showcased a split CNG tank which is much more convenient compared to the regular big tanks and we can expect Kia to follow the same path. The upcoming CNG model is expected to be priced at around Rs. 1 lakh more than the current model and the launch might take place soon.
