Hyundai Expecting Good NCAP Rating For Exter

Hyundai Expecting Good NCAP Rating For Exter

Hyundai is one of the manufacturers which hadn’t performed well in the earlier Global NCAP tests but the company is taking lots of initiatives to change it as six-airbags are standard across most models. The recently launched Exter comes with six airbags as standard from the base variant onwards along with ESC as an option too. The Korean manufacturer is expected good NCAP ratings with the Exter as the company has made lots of changes to the platform to make it more rigid and absorb the impact better during a collision.

Some of the main talking points during the launch were high durability, high rigidity and low NVH. Along with the Global NCAP, Hyundai is also considering crash testing the model under the new Bharat NCAP also which will come to effect from October onwards. The Exter competes head-on against the Tata Punch and it is known for safety so Hyundai needs to take care of the ratings also as it can make a big impact on sales numbers as Tata has already proved how well they can market the safety ratings to change the perception of customers towards the brand.

Hyundai has loaded the Exter with lots of safety features and it is the only model to come with connected car tech. Hyundai Exter comes in five variants – EX, S, SX, SX(O) and SX(O) Connect trims. The SX (O) Connect Trims indicate that it might get the connected car tech and the features will be similar to the Venue. The Exter is powered by a 1.2 L Kappa series petrol engine with 83 PS and 113 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. Hyundai is also offering a CNG version too
