BS6 Honda Civic Diesel Launched In India At Rs. 20.75 Lakh

Honda finally launched the BS6 Civic diesel in India. The Japanese manufacturer has already introduced the BS6 version of Civic petrol in March but the company delayed the introduction of diesel. The BS6 version of diesel is available in two variants – VX and ZX. Apart from the diesel engine, the company hasn’t made any other changes for the executive sedan. The Civic has been selling really well in the Indian market.

The executive sedan segment currently includes just Civic and Elantra. Hyundai recently updated the Elantra and it also comes with both diesel and petrol engines. The Civic diesel is powered by 1.6 L i-DTEC engine, which is part of Earth Dream series of engines from Honda as it produces 120 PS of power at 4,000 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. This engine is mated to 6-speed manual gearbox but Honda is not offering automatic gearbox.

But the petrol engine is available with an automatic gearbox and Hyundai is also offering diesel engine with auto and manual gearbox options. According to Honda, the Civic returns 23.9 kmpl, thus making it one of the most fuel-efficient sedans in the country. The sedan is packing with lots of features like full LED headlamps and tail lamps along with leather upholstery, touch screen infotainment system, blind-spot monitoring camera and more.

Honda has also focused on safety ad the Civic diesel comes with 6-airbags as standard, while top-spec variants also add curtain airbag too. The base VX variant is priced at Rs. 20.74 lakh and the top model comes at Rs. 22.34 lakh (Ex-Showroom). The Japanese manufacturer is planning to introduce the much-awaited new generation of City in India later this month and the company has already introduced the WR-V facelift too.
