BMW India has confirmed a price hike across its entire model range, effective January 1, 2025. This revision will apply to both locally assembled vehicles and imported models, with prices set to increase by up to 3%. The announcement aligns BMW with several other luxury carmakers preparing to adjust their pricing in response to evolving market conditions.
The locally produced lineup at BMW’s Chennai plant includes models such as the 2 Series Gran Coupe, starting at ₹43.90 lakh, and the 3 Series Gran Limousine, priced from ₹60.60 lakh. Other popular models include the performance-focused M340i at ₹74.90 lakh, the recently updated 5 Series LWB at ₹72.9 lakh, and the flagship 7 Series, which starts at ₹1.82 crore. BMW’s SUV portfolio comprises the X1 (₹49.90 lakh), X3 (₹72.50 lakh), X5 (₹97 lakh), and X7 (₹1.3 crore).
For its imported models, the German automaker offers a wide range of cutting-edge electric and performance vehicles. The EV portfolio includes the i4 (₹72.50 lakh), the newly launched i5 (₹1.2 crore), the ultra-luxurious i7 (₹2.03 crore), the iX1 (₹66.90 lakh), and the iX (₹1.40 crore). Performance enthusiasts can choose from the Z4 Roadster (₹90.90 lakh), the M2 Coupe (₹99.90 lakh), the powerful M4 Competition (₹1.53 crore), and the exclusive M4 CS (₹1.89 crore). Other top-tier models include the M8 Coupe (₹2.44 crore), the XM SUV (₹2.6 crore), and the recently launched M5, priced at ₹1.99 crore.
The decision to increase prices comes amid rising operational costs, inflationary pressures, and global supply chain challenges. BMW India has stated that this adjustment is necessary to offset escalating input costs while continuing to deliver premium products with cutting-edge technology and exceptional quality. This development follows a similar announcement by Mercedes-Benz India, which cited comparable reasons for its price hike effective next year. With competitors like Audi, Volvo, and Jaguar Land Rover likely to follow suit, the luxury car segment in India is bracing for a wave of price revisions.
