Audi officially revealed A6 E-Tron Concept ahead of the public debut at the 2021 Shanghai Motor Show. The production version of the A6 E-Tron is going to be the first electric sedan from the German manufacturer and it will compete against the likes Tesla Model S and the recently revealed Mercedes Benz EQS. The A6 E-Tron is not the electric version of A6 as the dimensions reveal that it is the same size as the A7 but the company decided to stick on the executive sedan moniker.
The A6 E-Tron is based on the Premium Platform Electric, which is developed by Porsche and Audi. The next-generation Macan will be the first model to use this platform followed by the production version of E-Tron. The concept model is not a proper sedan instead it is a long slung fastback like the A7. Audi designers have confirmed that the production model will carry most of the design elements from this concept like they did earlier with the E-Tron GT concept.
One of the highlights of the A6 E-Tron Concept is its unique headlamps system, which is much slimmer than any other Audi models. The Matrix LED headlamps system can act as projectors and the LED DRLs can be customised. The company has also developed a special mobile game, which can be played using the headlamp. Audi has also added additional projectors on the side for displaying messages and the rear gets digital OLED tail lamps.
Audi is yet to reveal the interior of the A6 E-Tron Concept but it will follow the footsteps of other models. The A6 E-Tron Concept is powered by dual-electric motors producing 470 hp and 800 Nm, 0-100 kph in just four seconds. The claimed range is 700 km and using a 270 kWh fast-charger, it will take 25 min to charge from 5 per cent to 80 per cent. The production model of the A6 E-Tron is expected to hit the global market by 2023.
