Audi A4 Facelift Production Begins In India, Launch In 2021

Audi is all set to re-introduce the A4 in India next year as the company discontinued the model earlier this year. The company began assembly of the new A4 at its Aurangabad plant and the first batch has been rolled off the assembly line. The A4 was one of the best selling models of Audi in India along with Q3 but the decision to discontinue diesel engines and the focus shifted to petrol engines has affected the sales as most of the competitors offer the option of diesel too.

The A4 facelift model made its official debut back in May 2019 and the company took more than one year to introduce the new model in India. Audi has made lots of exterior changes for the A4, which includes new front and rear bumper along with updated headlamps and a new design for the LED DRLs while the grille also gets a small tweak. The fog lamps housing is completely new and the air-intake is slightly larger than the earlier model.

The changes to the side include a new set of alloy wheels while the rear gets updated LED tail lamps and a new bumper. The interior changes are toned down compared to the exterior as the main change is the introduction of a new 10.1-inch touch screen infotainment system, which is placed on the top of the dashboard. The German manufacturer removed the rotary dial from the centre console but climate control is still operated by buttons instead of touch screen like new generation Audi models.

The A4 continues to come with Virtual Cockpit display and the new unit offers better display. Audi is likely to offer new ambient colour options to spice up the cabin experience. The company will also pack the A4 with lots of new features too. Audi will replace the earlier 1.4 L turbo petrol engine with a new 2.0 L turbocharged unit with mild-hybrid system producing 190 hp mated to 7-speed automatic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
